A page for each town you cover

Customers often search for a service and a town. A service area page is a page about one service in one place. I write one at a time, build it in your site's design, link it from the rest of the site and send it to Google.

Your quick checklist

How is a town page written?

Use this to keep your place while reading. Ticking a box does not send or change anything.

Internal link
A link from one page of your site to another

Before you start

An extra service page is £49 including VAT. Or you can have one new page every month on the £99 monthly plan.

What goes on a good town page

Local detail is what makes a town page worth having. That can be the streets or areas you cover, jobs you have done there, how long you take to arrive, or questions people in that town ask. If you have nothing specific to say about a town, it probably does not need its own page.

I ask you about the place and the job before I write. I do not take one page and swap the town name.

The doorway page rule

Google's spam policies list doorway abuse. One example is pages made for particular cities or regions that funnel users to one page. A set of near-identical pages that differ only in the town name could look like that, so I avoid them.

Each page is written for its own place, tells a visitor something useful there and carries the same standard as the rest of your site. I do not know how Google would treat any individual page, and I cannot promise one will appear in the results.

What you get

  • One page for one service or town, written and built in the site's design.
  • Title and headings set for the words customers search.
  • Links from your other pages, so visitors and Google can reach it.
  • Sent to Google through Search Console.

Not included: photos you do not have. If you have photos of work in that town, send them. Otherwise the page goes without.

The monthly plan

Monthly SEO + new page is £99 a month. You get the Monthly SEO work (Search Console checked, a Google Business Profile post, current hours and photos, a plain-English report) plus one new service or town page each month. Pages stay yours if you leave. It runs month to month with 30 days' notice. The local SEO page covers the monthly work.

How I can help

Tell me the services you offer and the towns you cover, and I will tell you which deserve a page and in what order. For a first page, an extra service page at £49 is the simplest start. If your site has other search problems, SEO Foundations at £99 fixes those first. The SEO page shows all the options.

Questions about service area pages

Do I need a separate page for every town?

No. Make a page where you do real work and have something specific to say. A page you could swap with another town's by changing one word adds little for a visitor.

Is a page for each town against Google's rules?

Google's spam policies call out doorway abuse, including pages for cities or regions that funnel users to one page. A page that helps a visitor in that place is a different thing. I write each one for its own place.

Who owns the pages?

You do. They stay with your site if you stop the monthly plan.

Can you promise the page will rank?

No. Google says no one can guarantee a #1 ranking, and I do not promise one.
