Understand what visitors do on your website

Your website can get visits without bringing enough enquiries. I can help you measure where those visits come from, look at how people use the pages and identify changes worth making.

Different evidence answers different questions

Visit sources

Look at where recorded visits appear to come from and which pages people open first.

Selected actions

Count agreed actions, keeping link taps separate from completed calls, bookings and enquiries.

Page observations

Clicks, scrolling and recorded visits can reveal places to investigate, without proving motives.

Coverage and limits

Visitor choices, browser restrictions and a small sample can limit what the data establishes.

A report or recording can suggest where to investigate. It cannot establish a visitor’s motive.

Your quick checklist

Which report or observation could answer my question about the website?

Use this to keep your place while reading. Ticking a box does not send or change anything.

Words explained
Analytics
Reports about recorded website visits and actions.
Source
Where a recorded visit appears to have come from. Some sources are unknown.
Recording
An account of page actions, such as clicking or scrolling. It does not reveal what someone was thinking.

Before you start

We agree whether you need tracking set up, a review of existing data, or help changing the website after the review.

Find out where visits come from

See how people arrive through search, social posts, links on other websites or campaigns you have tagged for measurement. Compare the pages they land on and how they use the site on a phone or a larger screen.

This can help you decide which pages to improve and which marketing activity deserves a closer look. Some visits cannot be attributed to a known source, so the report needs to show those limits too.

Measure the actions your business needs

We choose the actions that matter on your site, such as a completed enquiry form or a click on a booking, telephone or WhatsApp link. I can help set up and check the agreed tracking.

Reports keep button clicks separate from completed enquiries. For telephone links, the report counts taps; calls placed or connected need separate call tracking. External booking tools may also need their own setup.

A tap and a conversation need different evidence

Phone link tapped

The page can record that someone tapped the number.

Call placed or answered

This needs separate call tracking. A tap alone cannot establish it.

See where people get stuck

Review recorded visits and summaries of clicks and scrolling to look for problems on the page. People may repeatedly tap something that does not respond, miss a button below the point they usually scroll to, or return to the previous page while looking for information.

I check those observations against the working site. They can point to a link that needs fixing, a service that needs explaining earlier or a form that is difficult to use on a phone. Recordings show actions; they still need interpretation and a check of the page.

Use the findings to plan changes

We can agree a list of issues to address and how to check the changes afterwards. Tracking, analysis and implementation are scoped before the work starts. Any ongoing review needs its own agreed arrangement.

The available data depends on your traffic, visitor choices and browser restrictions. With a small sample, a finding may be something to investigate further. It cannot establish what every visitor does or why they leave.

Questions about website insights

Can you review tracking I already have?

Send your website link and explain what you want to understand. We can review the available setup and data before agreeing the work.

Is this included in a website package?

A Business site includes visitor-statistics setup. A behaviour review, further tracking or ongoing analysis needs an agreed scope. The quote should make clear what is already included so you do not pay twice for the same setup.

How do you handle privacy?

We review the site's tracking choices, the information that should be masked and the access needed before collecting or reviewing data. The site's privacy and cookie information needs to reflect its setup.

Send me your website link and the question you want answered, such as why visitors leave the prices page or whether people reach the enquiry form.

How I can help

I can help agree what to measure, check existing reports and review where visitors get stuck. Any setup, review and website changes are agreed before work begins.
