The plans and what they cost
Four ways to look after a site. Hosting is included in every one, and the price is per month.
| Plan | Monthly price | Small updates |
|---|---|---|
| Hosted | £19.99 | None |
| Essential | £29.99 | 10 |
| Standard | £39.99 | 20 |
| Full | from £49.99 | 30 or more |
Updates are counted each month and unused ones do not carry over. Full covers 30 or more; the exact number is agreed in your quote. All prices include VAT.
What each part covers
Hosting, in every plan
Managed hosting, HTTPS, Backup copies of your site, An alert to me if the site goes down, Help with hosting problems.
Maintenance, from Essential
Your site’s software kept up to date, and monthly checks on security and speed.
Small updates
A small update is a short text change or a swapped photo on an existing page. Price changes, opening hours and a new offer on an existing page count too.
Not included
Domain registration and renewal, Email mailboxes, Content edits outside the included launch aftercare, New pages and features, and paid services from other companies. Those are quoted first.
A site is never finished. It is kept in good order.
Hosting only, or no hosting from me
You do not have to take a plan.
Hosted, at £19.99 a month, keeps the site online without updates. If you would rather arrange your own, I hand over the website files and there is no monthly fee to me. Your provider’s charges apply either way.
For 4 weeks after launch, small changes to your existing text, photos or layout are free with either choice. Cancel a plan anytime; it ends at the end of the paid billing period and you keep your accounts and your files.
Choosing a plan
Count the small changes you made to your last site in a year. If it was a handful, Hosted or Essential is likely enough. If you change prices, menus or photos most months, Standard or Full gives you room. Unused updates do not carry over, so do not over-buy.
Maintenance plans are for websites I build. If your site was built elsewhere, tell me what it runs on and I will say whether I can help.
Questions to ask any maintenance provider
What counts as an update?
Ask for a definition, as the one above, not “reasonable use”.
Can I cancel?
And what happens to my files and accounts if I do.
Do unused updates roll over?
Mine do not, and I say so up front.
Who owns the accounts?
They should be yours.
What is excluded?
New pages, features and third-party fees are the usual ones.
Who does the work?
A named person or a ticketing team.
