Guide 03 · At launch and after

Know what happens at handover.

Keep track of your website files, the accounts that run it and the changes you can make after launch.

  1. Approve the website

  2. Check files and access

  3. Keep it current

Know which account does what

Your domain, code and hosting stay in accounts you own. At launch, I hand over the website files and account access. Keep your own record of the services that run the site.

Know which account does what
Account or serviceWhat to check
DomainWhere it is registered, who receives renewal reminders and which payment method keeps it active.
Website code and filesWhere the source is stored and how you can obtain a copy.
HostingWho hosts the site, what the plan covers and how to contact support.
Email and connected toolsWho manages mailboxes, bookings, payments or other services included in your build.
Search and visit reportsIf included, which account gives you access to Search Console or Analytics.

Keep access under your control

Use your own account and recovery email. Turn on a passkey or two-step verification where available, and keep recovery details somewhere secure.

Where a service supports it, invite me as a separate user with the access needed for the work. Do not paste passwords, recovery codes or payment details into an enquiry or review note.

Check who still needs access after launch. Remove access when it is no longer needed; keep any access required for agreed ongoing support.

Try the important customer tasks

  • Read the final contact details, service information and published prices.
  • Send a test enquiry and confirm that it reaches the right inbox.
  • Try the agreed booking, search or other feature from a customer’s point of view.
  • Open the site on your phone and check the main links and navigation.
  • Confirm the agreed checks, remaining actions and your approval to launch.

A test enquiry or booking should be clearly marked as a test. Check any effects on real appointments, emails or payments before trying a connected service.

Understand how changes will be made

An editor for changing your own words and photos is an optional part of the build. If we include one, the handover covers the editing tasks agreed in your quote. Tell me which parts you expect to update regularly.

A site without an editor can still be changed through its files. If you want me to make later edits, send the page, the replacement wording or photo and the change you need. I quote work outside the included aftercare or any agreed maintenance allowance.

Use the included launch aftercare

I check in a few days after launch. For the first 4 weeks, small changes to your existing text, photos or layout are free with either hosting choice. New pages and new features are quoted separately. After that period, small edits can be quoted per request or covered by an optional maintenance plan.

Hosted is £19.99 a month, or you can arrange your own hosting. It covers HTTPS, versioned website backups, uptime monitoring and hosting-related support. Content changes after the included launch aftercare are quoted separately. Domain renewals and email mailboxes are separate.

Essential is £29.99 a month with 10 small updates, Standard is £39.99 with 20, and Full is £49.99 with 30 or more as agreed. Each includes hosting, routine software updates and monthly security/performance checks. You pay one monthly plan price.

A small update is a short text change or an image replacement on an existing page. Update allowances are monthly totals and unused updates do not roll over. Full includes at least 30 updates; any larger allowance is agreed in your quote. It is not unlimited. New pages, features, major fixes and other work outside your plan are quoted separately.

Keep renewal reminders and a record of your ongoing services. If you move host later, check the requirements of the website and any connected tools before cancelling the old service.
