Move from Wix or Squarespace with a plan for what stays

If your current website no longer suits the business, I can quote for a replacement and the agreed migration work. A move starts with an inventory of your pages, domain, content and connected tools. You can keep your domain and accurate material you own. The quote explains what will be rebuilt, what needs transferring and what cannot be carried over directly.

A migration planning example. The final scope follows a review of your current site.

First decide whether moving solves the problem

Send your current site and say what you want to improve. If the real issue is a confusing menu or outdated wording, a move may be more work than you need. The first conversation should establish the problem before choosing a replacement.

I build custom websites for small businesses, with the pages and features named in a fixed quote. A migration is a scoped piece of that work; it does not mean every template, app or platform setting can be copied to a different system.

Record what the business already relies on

  • Pages and page addresses

List the pages that need to stay, merge or disappear. Important old links need a plan so customers following a saved address have a useful destination.

  • Domain and email

Identify who owns the domain and which service handles business email. Changing the website and changing your mailbox are separate tasks, and email delivery needs its own check.

  • Content and connected tools

Gather wording and photos you have permission to reuse. Note forms, booking links, analytics and any other tools the replacement must support, so they appear in the quote.

Review the replacement before switching over

The new website follows the agreed design and review process. You try its pages and customer steps before approving launch. I check the agreed links, forms and features, including the old-address handling in the migration scope.

Existing platform subscriptions, domain renewals and third-party charges remain separate. Do not cancel the old service until the switch and any required content transfer have been checked. I do not promise unchanged search positions after a move.

Questions about moving your website

Can I keep the same domain?

Yes, your existing domain can stay yours. I check its current registration and website settings when planning the move. A transfer of registrar is a separate choice from changing the website.

Will every feature move exactly as it is?

Not necessarily. Platform-specific apps and layouts may need a different approach. The current website is reviewed before the quote commits to a replacement feature.

Can you migrate an online shop?

Ecommerce is outside the current offer. I can review an ordinary business website, including agreed enquiries and booking links, but do not offer an online shop migration.
