A clear home for the website I build for you
Hosting keeps your website available at your domain. If you pay once for a website, you can host it yourself or choose hosting with me at £19.99 a month. Hosting is already part of every monthly website plan. This page explains the hosting service; ongoing content updates and the website build have their own agreed scope.
What the hosting service covers
Hosting includes HTTPS, backup copies of the website, an alert to me if the site goes down and help with hosting problems. These are specific inclusions rather than an unlimited support or emergency response contract.
I quote hosting for the visitors, form messages and other activity I expect your site to handle. If you grow past that, or use a paid service from another company, you may need a different plan. I agree any extra cost with you before anything changes.
Keep these costs separate
Your domain
Your web address has its own registration and renewal. It remains in an account you own, so the address is not tied to staying with one developer.
Business email
A mailbox for everyday correspondence is a separate service. Website hosting does not automatically provide an inbox or configure replies from an address at your domain.
Content changes and new work
New pages and features are quoted separately. Pay-once sites include 4 weeks of free small launch changes; monthly website plans include small text and photo changes. Hosting alone is not an ongoing editing plan.
Own the site and understand how to leave
Your domain, website files and hosting stay in accounts you own, and I hand over files and access at launch. If you prefer your own host, I check the agreed site requirements before the hosting choice is made.
For a pay-once website, optional hosting can be cancelled anytime and ends at the end of the paid billing period. Monthly website plans have a minimum of 12 months, followed by 30 days' notice. Those are website-plan terms, so they should not be confused with hosting alone.

Do I have to use your hosting?
No. If you pay once for the website, you can host it yourself. I check the site requirements before the host is chosen. Monthly website plans include hosting in their stated price.
Can you host any existing website?
This offer describes hosting for the websites I build. An existing site needs a review of its platform and requirements before I can say whether I can take it on.
Does the price cover my domain and email?
No. Domain registration and renewal, email mailboxes and paid services from other companies are separate. Any setup work is agreed in your quote.
